The station is definitely a heritage building.
One of the historic railway station, only this station remaining as a proof that on June 1st 1885, the first train in Malaysia took its schedule. To rebuild a new station means to demolish the old story!!!

Market

The Market Taiping (1884) - is the oldest
market in town.
Taiping folks who are part of the
market for nearly a century, are very concerned.

It is a Heritage Building, the structure of the
building is unique, it needs to be preserved.

TAIPING- town of "EVERLASTING PEACE"

In the Malay States of Malaya, the first town was called as ‘Taiping’ which is also known as the town of Everlasting Peace, established in the year 1874.

From a mining town of Kelian Pauh, it began with attap roof houses, and gradually started with wood based structures and cement concrete.

Well constructed shophouses were built in the town. By the late 1880s and 1890s government buildings were put up like the Railways, Museum, Schools, Post and Telegraph buildings, the Military Barracks and so on.

Private owners mostly the Chinese ‘towkays’ built good looking shophouses, with beautiful doors carrying artistic carvings, exhibiting Chinese culture. They used strong cengal timber which stands till to-day. They are now classified as having Heritage value.

All government buildings from the Victorian and Edwardian era, such buildings are the Taiping Museum, the District Office and other government buildings like King Edward School.

Most of the old buildings, in the town have Heritage Value. These structures are more than 100 years old, and they fully qualify for heritage value, and they are rich in culture and traditions.

For the sake of the future generation, all efforts must be made to preserve and conserve such heritage structures.
